Trieste, 26 January 2016. – The Free Trieste Movement – FTM addressed the national social security agency represented by President Tito Boeri, and by its Director-general. Free Trieste is requesting the INPS to de-tax as foreign pensions those paid to Free Territory of Trieste – F.T.T.‘s the citizens and residents. Currently, the INPS applies Italian taxation to such pensions.

The document explains that the F.T.T. is a little State-Free Port, and that since 1954 it is under NATO’s military defense and entrusted to the Italian Government’s temporary civil administration on the UNSC’s behalf.

Furthermore, Trieste does not belong to the European Union (the question is under the European Parliament’s attention with a specific petition) and does not adhere to the 1992 Agreement on the European Economic Area.

In its new document, Free Trieste does also consider that the enforcement of Italian taxes in Trieste is not only unfair, but ruinous: indeed, it is taxes so burdensome that they ruin the elderly in need. Finally, the document entrusts all international defenses on the matter to the “International Provisional Representative of the Free Territory of Trieste – I.P.R. F.T.T.”, activated in September 2015.
