Free Trieste to the Commissar of Government: 90 day to fix Trieste’s taxation

PRESS CONFERENCE ON THURSDAY JUNE 18th, AT 11.30AM, TRIESTE

On June 15th, 2015, the Free Trieste Movement, continuing its legal struggle, addressed the Commissioner of the Italian Government in Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and, through her, the Italian Prime Minister with a new document.

The document in question is an official invitation to re-establish, within 90 days, the present-day Free Territory of Trieste’s temporary civil administration.

In particular, the Movement seeks the re-establishment of Trieste’s correct taxation.

The new act focuses on four points:

  • recognition and declaration of the legal inefficacy of Italian laws – including fiscal laws – which were unlawfully extended to the Free Territory;
  • the immediate precautionary suspension of fiscal proceeding – including enforcement actions and evictions – deriving from said laws;
  • the re-establishment of the Free Territory’s fiscal administration, separated from the Italian Republic’s;
  • compliance with the Italian legal obligations respect to the Free Territory.

This 7-pages reasoned document, coordinated with previous requests and the recent European petition, is being supported with “Tax objections” presented by all citizens, residents and enterprises.

The action and the related documents are being presented and made available to the public during a press conference to be held on on Thursday, June 18th, at 11.30, in the conference room at the 1st floor of Free Trieste’s office (piazza della Borsa 7).
