The Free Trieste Movement against provokers

Trieste, 27 October 2020 – On 26 October, unidentified provokers have attached on the frontier posts between Trieste and Slovenia some posters with slogans «Svobodno tržaško ozemlje» (Free Territory of Trieste) with the sentences «Svobodni Trst» (free Trieste) and «Smrt Italiji» (death to Italy) written on them, accompanied with the insignia of the 1945-54 Yugoslav military administration of former “Zone B” of the Free Territory of Trieste.

The Free Trieste Movement clarifies that this stupid and absurd provocation has nothing to do with the ongoing civil, legal actions to re-establish the rule of law as for the legal status and taxation of the present-day Free Territory of Trieste and of its international Free Port in compliance with the principles of friendship and cooperation among all States.

As for this matter, Free Trieste underlines that the question of former “Zone B” was ultimately closed in 1992 with the UNSC and UNGA Resolutions  recognizing the new independent Republics of Slovenia and of Croatia in their current borders.

Furthermore, Free Trieste considers that anonymous provocations claiming the contrary come from the well-known, ambiguous small groups of agitators that, since long, attempt to incite political and ethnic tensions that sabotage the effective progress of the legal actions for Trieste and for its international Free Port (LINK)
