Roberto Giurastante: the intimidation attempt of public security forces on the border

The Free Territory of Trieste borders with Italy on the north, Slovenia on the east and south, the Adriatic Sea on the west.

The present-day Free Territory of Trieste (since 1992).

Trieste, 14 march 2016. – Roberto Giurastante, President of the Free Trieste Movement, explains an intimidation attempt that took place yesterday, Sunday the 13th. During a sit-in on the Trieste – Italy State border, some members of the local police attempted to remove the temporary road signs placed by the Movement’s own activists.

The activists refused to remove the signs, arguing that they are part of a political demonstration for Trieste’s international rights. Free Trieste’s representatives asked the police to address the Commissioner of the Italian Government, the officer in charge of Trieste’s temporary civil administration. Instead, the police removed the Movement’s signs by force.

Despite this prevarication, the Free Trieste continues its legal battle based on international and domestic law in force. The Movement’s activists are also continuing to stand on the present-day Free Territory of Trieste‘s border.

Free Trieste won’t stop its stands for law and order.
