Free Trieste to the border crossing with Italy: press conference on Friday 11 March at 11

Friday 11 March, at 11 the Free Trieste Movement is presenting in the conference room at the first floor of its head office in in Piazza della Borsa 7 the beginning of the sit-ins on the border of State of the Free Territory of Trieste with the Republic of Italy starting on Saturday 12 March at 10AM, continuing until Sunday 13 March at 8PM, and are going to take place monthly at the main border crossing in San Giovanni di Duino-Štivan and to the above one on Strada del Vallone.

As known, the short border of State between the Free Territory of Trieste and the Republic of Italy, established with the 1947 Treaty of Peace, article 4, extends from river Lisert at San Giovanni di Duino-Štivan to triple-border point 208 near Medja vas-Medeazza, as well as being recognized by the Italian legal system in force (laws of execution and enforcement of the Treaty, the Constitution of the Republic of Italy, and other specific laws).

The first provisional Government of the Free Territory (AMG FTT) has marked the border crossings with clear road signs, which where then abandoned and removed by the current temporary civil administrator, the Italian Government, resulting in the invisibility of the border crossings. Since this is an existing border between two States and legal systems, the Free Trieste Movement wants to restore its clearly and evidently, making it visible to all.

The main border crossing in San Giovanni di Duino-Štivan is near the entrance of the paper mill, the border crossing on the strada del Vallone is about 500 m after the junction to Medja vas-Medeazza.
