As the crucial moment approaches, they attack you with even more force. What is happening in the Free Trieste Movement – FTM shows it well. And it does so clearly.
The FTM carries out an important action for the re-establishment of the rights of the citizens of the Free Territory of Trieste – FTT and of its international Free Port. It is a legal action, many stand for it in first line, their main instrument is the exception of the lack of jurisdiction of Italian authorities over the Free Territory of Trieste.
This exception challenges the current simulation of Italian sovereignty over Trieste.
At the same time, in Trieste take place the European elections: it is a chance to renew the 2013 complaint against the illegal summoning of Italian elections in the Free Territory, a breach of the 1947 Treaty of Peace and of the 1954 Memorandum of Understanding under which the Italian Government shall appoint a civil Government separate from Italy’s.
The May 25th European Election is important: the Question of Trieste is hearing to the European Parliament. The citizens of Trieste are going to present specific complaints at the polling stations to explain why holding EU elections is the FTT beaches both Italian and European laws, which both recognize the rights of the sovereign people of Trieste.
But first there is the May 7th hearing: the Court of Trieste is about to rule about the legal status of “Zone A” or the present-day FTT. The judge in charge is Mr. Piero Leanza: he has already recognized that, under the 1954 MoU regarding the FTT, the Italian Government exercised temporary civil administration over “Zone A” until 1977. It took two and a half years. And many efforts, at least for those who stood before Court in the name of all of their fellow citizens.
I am a firm believer in this battle for legality.
It is a legal battle to grant a better future for all, even those who don’t understand it yet. A better different future for their children, including the children of who, right now, splits on you and calls you a mindless day-dreamer.
But lately the harshest attacks come from those who should be my friends, as they stood with me for the Free Trieste Movement.Discovering that the same ones who claimed to stand with you with their lives are insulting you, over and over, well, you cannot but ask yourself what is happening. And this means disappointment.
But the cause you are defending it too important, and you cannot give up.
Still, there are some limits that cannot be crossed. Never, no matter how bitter the confrontation is, how different the sides involved are. Yet, in this “very civilized” Trieste the limits are well crossed. And by no less than Free Trieste’s “internal dissidents” who are declaring war on their former brothers.
A war made of explicit threats and intimidation, in an attempt to gain the support of reluctant citizens for them to stand for a different Trieste. A Free Territory ruled by clans, a new Eldorado of international Mafia: a Trieste free from all laws.
And it only takes reading their horrifying messages on social network Facebook to see what Trieste risks to face: a terrible, anti-democratic involution.
So, according to the crazy declarations of the anyways too many supporters of this kind of “Movimento Trieste Libera 2″ – the group hidden behind honor and black jackets in the name of “security” – I am the “true enemy” of Trieste. And, with me, Paolo G. Parovel: a journalist whose inconvenient investigations shed light on the darkest connections between Mafias and the local political establishment of this seemingly quiet, Mitteleuropäische Trieste.
No regime can accept a “fourth power” that stands for the people.
And a regime is what the “black revolution” of the FTT longs for.
I tried to restore democracy in the Movement that represents hope and freedom of Trieste. They replayed that democracy is an obstacle. So I myself became an obstacle for those who seek to keep all power firm in their few hands: the usual “founders”.
My former brothers attack me on a daily bases. Often, too often for me not to imagine a coordinate intervention, maybe directed from the outside. But also whoever stands for me becomes a target of this mud-slinging machine, controlled by the “black knights”. Just like in a Mafia system.
If this is the future that awaits Trieste, we should all open our eyes as long as we can still do so. This land of ours cannot and shall not become a lawless land. And all those who believe in the cause of the Free Territory should get ready to push back evil as it approaches.
