2014: THE YEAR OF THE CIVIL REVOLUTION OF TRIESTE

ursus_tlt

Welcome to 2014. A new years begins, after 2013 proved a very harsh year for Trieste’s economy, it seems 2014 won’t be much different.

And while many are forced to leave this land behind, threatened with widespread poverty, the aggression against the port conduced by institutionalized Italian Mafias reaches its peak.

The local representatives of this criminal system want to eliminate the international Free Port of Trieste.

First, because it is the most dangerous competitor of Italian ports, second, because they can make a good profit using the huge areas, that will become available after the deal is done, for a massive housing speculations: it is a well-known trick of organized criminality.

The local Italian authorities don’t even try to hide their plan. According to the Prefect of Trieste, Ms. Garufi, the free zones of the international port of Trieste must be eliminated, they are even an obstacle to development. To develop criminality, of course.

Ambitious projects aiming at a Trieste under the heel of Calabria’s ‘ndrangheta, Sicily’s Cosa Nostra and Campania’s many camorre. And let us not forget Eastern Mafias, which consider Trieste a strategies center for their own traffics. Traffics that are often secured by other States, which arrogate the right to overrun World order.

A sad present indeed, and an even more sad future, for the former pearl of Austria-Hungary. A city-port that used to be a positive model on the international level, before the waves of the Italian occupation weeped if with fury, leaving nothing but ruins of it.

But, while facing the projects of this axis of evil, this time Trieste proclaimed its will to resist: 2013 is the year of the new turn. For the first time, more and more citizens marched in the streets, with a cry for a “Free Trieste!!”. Words with one important meaning: the name of the movement that is organizing the opposition to the foreign oppression of the Free Territory, that unites the people who are claiming their rights, as established with the 1947 Treaty of Peace with Italy.

And it was exactly the game-changing, already historical year 2013: the unity of citizens, beyond ideological prejudices, to defend their Fatherland. A Fatherland that is not Italy, more and more hated for the repressive actions it adopts agains the citizens of the FTT but, indeed, it is the Free Territory, recognized under the Treaty of Peace in force, the highest instrument of international law.

Trieste is an independent State in the heart of Central Europe, with its strategic International Free Port. A land of rights and justice, a reference mark even on a world-wide level. This is the utopia of the civil revolution that is taking place in Trieste.

And if 2013 was the turning point, 2014 will be a transformation: a revolution of legality is about to begin.
