[PHOTOS] Trieste, September 29th, 2012. – Today Roberto Cosolini, mayor of Trieste and representative of the Italian Democratic Party (PD) organized a walk to the Northern Free Port.

His goal was to make it seem like all the people in Trieste want the Port be “returned to the city” because it is “old”. In other words, he mayor thinks the port is too old to be a port. He wants it destroyed and turned in an urban area.

This project is nothing but a housing speculation at the expenses of a strategic sector of Trieste’s international Free Port.

Since April, Free Trieste calls for the re-establishment of the rule of law in the international Free Port. Of course, the Movement could not stand by and let this political propaganda stay unchallenged.

Once again, the people of Trieste stood in the international Free Port: they know their rights, and they want them respected.

The Northern Free Port is not “old”.

It is a strategic sector of the international Free Port of the Free Territory of Trieste, a State under the UN’s own protection!

Its 70 hectares of port infrastructures exist to serve ships and vessels from all States, in compliance with UNSC S/RES/16 (1947) and with the 1947 Treaty of Peace with Italy.

Here there are some photos of our counter-demonstration: no to speculations, no to illegality!
