June 2016: Free Trieste challenges the two candidates with passive and active abstention from the vote. Italian elections in Trieste are illegal.
From June 11th to the 12th, 2016, Free Trieste is holding its fourth sit-in at the border of State of the Free Territory of Trieste with the Italian Republic.
2016 election: more than 50% eligible voters abstain. Fake pro-independence parties (Potenza, Marchesich, Sponza) are cleared away. Free Trieste is satisfied.
2 June 2016: Free Trieste dismisses as “electoral tricks” the claims of a local Senator who attempts to claim the UN considers Trieste part of Italy.
Free Trieste’s activists did also trace the border line, finding and showing the trigonometric points that demarcate it under the 1947 Treaty of Peace.
