“Bewegung Freies Triest”: the rights of Austria as for the Northern Free Port
On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, 2015 Trieste hosted the assembly of the “Bewegung Freies Triest – Österreich“. The event took place in the prestigious headquarter of sister organization “Free Trieste Movement” in piazza della Borsa 7. The organization, established under Austrian law, was founded in Vienna in November 2014 and it has a seat in Graz. The assembly confirmed president Gianni Kriščak, vice-president Alfred Terschak and secretary-treasurer Claudio Schiesl.
The members examined and discussed the situation in Trieste and its relations with Austria and with the other States of Mitteleuropa, especially in regard to their rights as for the international Free Port of the Free Territory di Trieste under the specific norms of the multilateral Treaty of Peace of Paris, confirming that those cannot be amended with national laws or bilateral agreements.
The assembly approved unanimously a document, which states that:
«taking note that some Italian political bodies are attempting to change and eliminate the Northern Free Port, that is part of international Free Port of Trieste in violation of international law and in violation of the rights of Austria and of the other States of Mitteleuropa, of the international community and of their enterprises, it commits itself to take action against these violations with the needed political and legal actions.»
