Free Trieste replies to the imitators of via Roma about the legal battle to register the ownership of the Northern Free Port

Pferd-und-Esel

Free Trieste’s imitators, based in via Roma 28 [later via Crispi] don’t miss a chance to obstacle it, like the profiteers they are, supporting Italian interests only to get some votes at the next elections. But whenever they do so, all they do is showing their ignorance and one-sided views.

Right now, they are going as far as attacking the action in defense of the Northern Free Port by registering it as “State Property of the Free Territory of Trieste – international Free Port” under the 1947 Treaty of Peace of Paris.

Indeed, they side with the Italian judge who, being unable to question the Treaty, rejected the first two requests with mere formal motivations. Furthermore, they accuse us of failing the procedure, claiming that we failed to open a separate request of the Land Registry’s completion before the competent authority.

Yet, by doing so, they show twice as much ignorance.

First of all, because that request should have been presented, ex officio, by the Land Registry Judge himself following our acts (which did include that request).

Secondly, since we expected that the judge wouldn’t to it, we had already presented said request separately. Which means the procedure continues, and it does also include the requested registration.

Finally, Free Trieste states since the beginning that this battle is yet to be fought. And to do so, the Movement is going to use also the special procedures for disputes regarding the Free Port, which don’t envision appeals before Court, (Art. 24, Annex VIII of the 1947 Treaty of Peace).

It is no news that the via Roma imitators are not struggling or – at least – supporting Free Trieste as it stands with legality, rather, they attack it, profiteering on the Free Territory’s symbols and name as well as taking advantage of the people’s credulity. Yet, since they do nothing but disturbing and insulting on the net, and in truth are only a few people and rather incapable, we, the ones standing in first line, have since long stopped caring about their false claims.

However, their latest attempted sabotage crosses the limit of decency, going against Trieste, the Free Trieste Movement, and even the citizens. Due to this, it is necessary saying who they truly are and what they are doing.

Because the via Roma gang, other than hiding behind pro-independence symbols and slogans, is literally scamming people. They claim to have attended a “UN plenary assembly” selling as such a mere forum on minorities, they fake receiving non-existing secret advice from UN officers, furthermore, they collect signatures on petitions they never present, and money without releasing receipts, claiming it is for the recognition of Trieste citizenship by the Geneva UN offices – but Geneva is not the competent authority.

They do also brag about the imaginary international actions of a London-based “Triest NGO” (based as in “with a mailbox there). By now, that alleged NGO is made of only 4 people – one of them is a previous offender, convicted also for fraud – who hide their minutes and financial reports, as well as having taken hold of EUR 14,500 collected and entrusted to it by Free Trieste to pay for a legal expertise. The gang is going to face the legal, criminal consequences of its actions in Trieste and before UK authorities.

As for the question of the Free Territory, those imitators located in via Roma are partially so ignorant and partially so colluded with Italian powers, that not only they cannot or don’t want to use these, but they do also furiously attack the Free Trieste Movement since that has the competence, the courage and the structures to do it.

By now, the program of the via Roma imitators/scammers looks rather clear behind their chatting: they want to bring back into “the ranks” of Italian politics the supporters of Trieste’s independence, legitimizing the Italian political system running in its elections, and taking monetary advantages from the well-paid seats and offices in the City Council, in the Province, in the Region.

Then, they would settle for political compromises and sterile calls for autonomy, getting rid, one after another, of Trieste’s active forces. It has already happened after all, with the  good old Lista per Trieste.

Except, this time trusting those imitators might as well cause the loss of Trieste’s last chance of salvation, as the city is close to the point of no-return.

The imitators concluded their latest on-line attack claiming that  «those who want to finally see the recognition of the Free Territory must chose wisely to bet on the winning horse». And, at least, this one is true. But first of all, one should be able to tell running horses from donkeys.
