Welcome to the Free Territory of Trieste
Trieste, August 24th, 2013. This is the insignia on the balcony of the new office of the Free Trieste Movement in della Borsa 7. This is Trieste, the Free Territory‘s capital city.
The office opens to the public in September [2013, for more info, visit this page]. Our goal is to make it a landmark not only for the people of the Free Territory of Trieste, but also for all those who value legality and wish to live in a State that protects their rights and the rule of law.
We are not in yet, and local Italian nationalists protest because they disliked our previous, temporary multilingual signs (TLT – STO – FTT, the Italian, Slovene, and English acronym of the Free Territory’s name: Territorio Libero di Trieste and Svobodno Tržaško Ozemlje).
The local Superintending office of the Italian Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Assets opened an investigation. Obviously, the local press amplified it. The alleged crime? A non-existing breach of urban constraints. The truth is that someone doesn’t like the meaning in those signs: the oppressed people’s long for FREEDOM.
A FREEDOM that puts the interessa of the local nationalistic lobby at stake. This is the local establishment which, by illegally simulating Italian sovereignty over Triste, shields itself and its own businesses. At the expenses not only of Trieste, but of all people in the world.
