Speech: “No Election Day” 2013

As part of its "No Election Day" campaign, Free Trieste held a speech in the Northern Free Port of TriesteTrieste, February 18th, 2013. – Yesterday, as part of its “No Election Day” campaign, Free Trieste held a speech in the Northern Free Port of Trieste.

Roberto Giurastante, the Movement’s spokesperson, reminded the participants that Italy has lost sovereignty over Trieste on 15 September 1947. The Italian Constitution, in force since 1 January 1948, recognizes this and other post-WWII territorial changes.

The legal base of campaign “No Election Day” is simple: a State cannot summon its elections in another State.

Italian elections held in Trieste illegal and illegitimate even under Italian law: just like the good British-US administration, the Italian administration should let the present-day Free Territory of Trieste hold its own separate elections.

Requesting this is an important step in the name of legality.

Finally, the march announced for February 24th is postponed to March 3rd. As previously announced, the event starts at 10AM in Piazza della Borsa and ends in Piazza Libertà/della Stazione. See you there!
