Continues the attempted repression of Trieste’s citizens who are claiming their rights in full force.

Public Prosecutor Federico Frezza keeps investigating Free Trieste. First he sought the incrimination of dozens of citizens “guilty” of expressing their opinion joining the political movement’s peaceful demonstration.

Now his targets are those who oppose the illegal Italian taxes, which are being collected in Trieste breaching Annex X of the 1947 Peace Treaty.

It was the Tax Revenue Office and Equitalia to hand those names to the Trieste Prosecution Office.

Along with them, the list contains the names of people who lodged exceptions regarding jurisdiction right at the Court of Trieste.

A list of 303 names.

Opposing to Italian taxes is perfectly legal. The local Italian authorities should have maintained the present-day Free Territory’s administration well separated from that of bordering Italy, because they are two different States.

For 60 years, taking advantage of the Cold War Era tensions, this distinction was ignored for Rome’s own advantage.

But things have changed. The Cold War is over and Trieste’s people, as they become aware of their rights, are claiming them. Starting from the right to a fair taxations.

Facing the legitimate stand for legality of people long spoiled of their properties and forced to pay taxes to a foreign State, the local nationalistic lobby panics. Hence this furious reaction worth a dictatorship.

Intimidating people, downgrading them to subjects. This is the goal of those who, since decades, profit from simulating Italian sovereignty over Trieste. It is no coincidence that the list includes also the people who lodged exceptions regarding jurisdiction. Indeed, it is those who discovered the trick. A trick sold as patriotism. It goes even against the Italian laws that provide for Trieste’s administration.

Who is next? Who is this outlaw nationalistic lobby targeting next? Maybe the over 2,000 citizens who denounced the illegal elections summoned in the Free Territory, but in the Italian Republic’s name?
