Free Trieste warns Equitalia

Trieste – 27 May 2015. – Today (5.27th) about 100 of Free Trieste’s activists demonstrated in front of the headquarter of Equitalia in Trieste (via XXX Ottobre).

During the demonstration, representatives of the Movement lodged a warning asking Equitalia to suspend, in self-defense, the collection of taxes «charged on the citizens and enterprises of the Free Territory of Trieste on behalf of bodies of the State of Italy, under laws of the State of Italy which were not legitimately extended to the legal order of the Free Territory (see: Civil Court of Cassation, Division I, Judgment No. 323 of February 26th, 1965) and for charges including portions of the Italian public debt (prohibited under article 5 of Annex X of the Treaty of Peace of Paris of February 10th, 1947).»

According to the formal warning, said tax collections violate «the instruments of international law that establish the Free Territory and the related Italian laws of ratification and execution, in force (Law No. 811/1947; Legislative Decree of the Provisional Head of State No. 1430/1952, arts. No. 10, sub- paragraph 1 and 117, sub-paragraph 1 of Constitution of the Republic of Italy.

Annexed to the formal warning was the recent «Charter of Rights of the Citizens and of the Enterprises of the Free Territory of Trieste» where the Free Trieste Movement summarized the main international and Italian laws on the question of Trieste. The activists displayed big, red-white banners with calls for legality.
