NO ELECTION DAY 2013: A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN

Trieste, March 4th, 2013: Free Trieste‘s NO ELECTION DAY campaign brought more than 2000 Triestines in the streets. They marched against the illegal summoning of Italian elections in the Free Territory of Trieste.

Despite the lack of press coverage on the event, not only many marched on March 3rd. So far more than 500 people lodged at the polling stations Free Trieste’s declaration regarding the nullity and voidness of the February 24th and 25th election.

In view of the upcoming Regional election, Free Trieste is continuing the “No Election Day” campaign, hoping to reach even more citizens and to help them exercise their rights.

One of those rights is the questioning of Italian elections, without fear: the people of Trieste have the right to their own elections. Trieste and its international Free Port need the re-establishment of the rule of law.

The Free Trieste Movement anticipates an upcoming demonstration in Vienna: Austria is among the States of Central Europe with special rights over the international Free Port.

The people of Trieste want to get their rights back: the over 2000 who marched on this “NO ELECTION DAY” know that legality is a basic right.
