EXPROPRIATIONS IN THE NAME OF PUBLIC INTEREST TO PROMOTE GAS NATURAL’S LNG TERMINAL IN TRIESTE’S PORT: FREE TRIESTE ADDRESSES THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
Trieste, 26 December 2012. – The Free Trieste Movement addressed the Italian Ministry of Economic Development with a note to oppose the impending expropriation procedures preliminary to the construction of the electric interconnections related to Gas Natural’s LNG terminal. The expropriations are taking place in the industrial area of Trieste’s international Free Port.
Free Trieste requests that the whole procedure be deemed null and void due to the lack of Italian jurisdiction over the Free Territory of Trieste under laws in force within the very Italian legal order.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that Greenaction Transnational is opposing the project before EU authorities: indeed, not only the project is illegal on grounds of its incompatibility with Trieste’s legal status, but it would disrupt the port’s naval traffic.
On January 22nd, 2013, Question Trieste goes to Brussels within Petition 1147/2008.
